Last Flame The Long Winter

Last Flame key art: a fire mage on a snowy rise at dusk, an ember raised, while frost creatures close in from the blue shadows

The world froze. You are the last fire mage.

Burn through frozen forests, a moonlit village and the caves under the mountain. Every room hides creatures sleeping in the ice; melt them, burn them, and light the old hearths to push the winter back. Heat is your health and your mana, so every spell is a gamble.

  • Fast top-down spellcasting: firebolts, fireballs, a nova and a dash
  • A new build every run, from rare gifts, duo combos and relics
  • Three regions, each guarded by a boss, and a dawn to win back
The mage fighting in a snowy village at night, orbiting embers circling him A fight in the ice caves, with damage numbers flying and frozen crystals glowing

How Last Flame was made

The jam asks for games that are mostly AI-generated. Last Flame was directed, played and tuned by hand, and built with these tools:

Code

Written with Claude Code: the combat, the room generator, the gift and relic systems, and an autoplay bot that plays the game to check its balance.

Art

Characters, tiles, props and key art from Codex image generation, cut into 8-direction sprite sheets by custom scripts.

Music

A seven-track soundtrack generated locally with ACE-Step 1.5 in ComfyUI, one theme for each region, boss and ending.

Engine

Three.js with HD-2D lighting, bloom and tilt-shift, no build step. Sound effects come from ZzFX.

Made in the studio

We build our own tools too, and share them.

JamDraw

A friendly vector drawing app for logos, stickers and game art.

We made it to redraw our own logo by hand. Draw with a mouse, a drawing tablet or a phone pen; pick from 66 free fonts; give anything a cartoon sticker outline; and export SVG, PNG or PDF. It runs in your browser and installs like an app.
